Ukraine begins exporting organic millet to U.S.

MOSCOW. July 15 (Interfax) - Ukraine has begun exporting organic millet to the United States, Ukrainian media reported, citing the Organic Standard certification company as saying in a statement on social media.

"Products are certified in accordance with COR (Canadian Organic Regime) standard, but the certificate for import to the United States is issued through the Integrity electronic system, which confirms the equivalent of organic requirements of Canadian and United States standards," the statement said.

Similar shipments demonstrate how with a single COR standard equivalency certificate it is possible to cover two major markets at once, the U.S. and Canada, it said.

Organic Standard is the first Ukrainian certification body, which carries out inspections and certification of organic products. The company was established in 2007 as part of the Ukrainian-Swiss project dealing with organic certification and development of the organic market in Ukraine.
