Demand for buses in Ukraine down 35% in June 2024 - association
MOSCOW. July 10 (Interfax) - The number of primary registrations of new and used buses, including minibuses, in Ukraine decreased 35% to 139 in June 2024 year-on-year, Ukrainian media said, citing Ukrautoprom, the national association of motor vehicle manufacturers, as saying in a statement on social media.
New buses in June 2024 accounted for 45% (63 buses) of the aforementioned figure, down 15 percentage points year-on-year, but eight percentage points higher than in May 2024. The registrations of new buses halved in June 2024 year-on-year, but grew 31% compared to May 2024.
The top three brands with the largest number of new bus registrations in Ukraine in June 2024 included Ataman (18 buses), Etalon (12) and Citroen (11). The June 2023 top three brands were Citroen (64), Ataman (48) and Etalon (6).
The top three brands with the largest number of used bus registrations in Ukraine in June 2024 were Mercedes-Benz (22), VDL (8) and Iveco (7).
A total of 869 buses joined Ukraine's bus fleet in the first half of 2024, down 29% year-on-year, including 478 new buses (down 39% year-on-year), and 391 used buses (a 13% decline year-on-year).
As reported, the number of primary registrations of new buses of all categories stood at 1,701 in Ukraine in 2023, 86% more than in 2022. Ukrautoprom did not provide any statistics for used buses.
