Demand for electric vehicles up 35% in Ukraine in June
MOSCOW. July 8 (Interfax) - The registration of electric vehicles, both new and second-hand, grew 35% in Ukraine year-on-year to around 4,200 in June 2024, Ukrainian media said, citing an Ukravtoprom statement on a social network.
The demand grew insignificantly since May 2024. The share of new electric vehicles in the overall number of registrations stood at 19% in June 2024, same as in June 2023, having grown 3% since May 2024.
Most registered electric vehicles were cars (4,098, including 784 new and 3,295 second-hand), and only eight of 119 registered commercial vehicles were new.
The top five new electric vehicles registered in May were Honda M-NV (140), Nissan Ariya (91), MG 4 (71), Volkswagen iD.4 (71), and BYD Song Plus (62).
The top five second-hand electric vehicles were Tesla Model 3 (419), Nissan Leaf (410), Tesla Model Y (367), Volkswagen e-Golf (208), and TESLA Model S (196).
According to the association, more than 24,400 battery-powered vehicles were first registered in Ukraine in the first half of the year, (almost twice as many as in the same period of 2023), of which 20% were new (22% a year earlier) and 80 were used.
As reported, in 2023, according to Ukravtoprom, registrations of electric cars in Ukraine increased by 2.8 times to 37,600, with new ones accounting for 20% versus 17% a year earlier.
