Growth in demand for imported second-hand vehicles slows to 30% in Ukraine in H1 - Ukravtoprom
MOSCOW. July 4 (Interfax) - Almost 113,300 imported second-half vehicles added to the Ukrainian fleet in January-June 2024, up 30% from the respective period of 2023, Ukrainian media said, citing an Ukravtoprom statement on a social network.
The growth in demand for such vehicles slowed after reaching 36% year-on-year in January-May.
Ukraine imported 18,600 second-hand vehicles in June, up 7% from June 2023 and down 4% from May 2024, the association said.
According to the association, the sales of new cars fell 8% year-on-year in June 2024 to 5,200, which means that demand for imported second-hand vehicles was 3.6 times larger than demand for new cars.
Gasoline cars accounted for a large share (49%) of imported second-hand cars last month, followed by diesel cars (22%), electric cars (18%), LPG cars (6%) and hybrids (5%).
Volkswagen Golf remains the most frequently registered imported second-hand vehicle (989 registrations).
The other top ten popular models of June are Renault Megane (691). Skoda Octavia (598), Volkswagen Tiguan (541), Volkswagen Passat (500), Nissan Rogue (470). Audi Q5 (442), Tesla Model 3 (419), Nissan Leaf (410) and Tesla Model Y (367).
An average age of second-hand vehicles registered in Ukraine in June is 8.8 years.
As reported, the number of imported second-half vehicles registered in Ukraine last year dropped 45% from 2022 to 214,400.
