Ukrenergo adjust blackout schedules in Ukraine for Tuesday

MOSCOW. June 18 (Interfax) - The Ukrenergo power grid operator has cancelled scheduled hourly blackouts across Ukraine until 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

"The period of consumption restrictions in all areas has been shortened for today, June 18: scheduled hourly blackouts have been cancelled from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. There will be consumption caps from 3:00 p.m. to midnight in accordance with the schedules introduced for the regional distribution system operators," Ukrainian media outlets quoted Ukrenergo as saying in a statement on social media.

Ukrenergo explained its decision with the more active functioning of solar farms.

Similar information with reference to Ukrenergo was earlier released by DTEK, whose distribution system operators work in four regions and Kiev, and the Prikarpatyeoblenergo and Nikolayevoblenergo regional distribution system operators.

Ukrenergo said on Monday that scheduled blackouts would be in effect throughout the day on Tuesday, June 18. Electricity supply will be limited to all of Ukraine's regions due to an increase in consumption and the ongoing working days.

As reported, another nuclear power plant reactor unit was shut down for routine maintenance late last week, contributing to the shortage in the energy system.
