US to provide Ukraine with over $1.5 bln for energy and humanitarian needs
WASHINGTON. June 17 (Interfax) - Washington has decided to allocate over $1.5 billion to Kiev to solve urgent problems in the energy sector and for humanitarian assistance, US Vice President Kamala Harris told Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky.
"The Vice President announced more than $1.5 billion in additional assistance to meet Ukraine's emergency energy and humanitarian needs, such as food, water, shelter and medical care, as well as ensuring the safety of its citizens," the White House said in a press release published following the meeting on Saturday.
Harris and Zelensky discussed possible ways to resolve the Ukrainian crisis during a meeting on the sidelines of a conference on Ukraine in Lucerne, Switzerland.
