Ukraine exports 590 tonnes of organic honey in Jan-May 2024
MOSCOW. June 4 (Interfax) - Ukraine exported 589.86 tonnes of organic honey in January-May 2024, which is more than last year, Ukrainian media said, citing the OrganikInfo website and the Organic Standard certification authority.
Organic honey exports have been growing in recent years, the report said. For instance, 269.33 tonnes of honey were exported in 2021, versus 698.05 tonnes in 2022, and 702.9 tonnes in 2023.
"Organic honey is not among the top 10 foods exported by Ukraine, yet Ukraine remains a leading exporter of honey, including organic honey, the global demand for which is on the rise," the organic market analysts said.
According to the report, honey ranked fourth in EU import volumes and accounted for 9.2% of organic food imports in 2022.
