Azerbaijani gas exports to top 24 bcm in 2024 - President Aliyev

BAKU. June 4 (Interfax) - Gas exports from Azerbaijan will exceed 24 billion cubic meters in 2024, and the number of countries buying Azerbaijani gas will continue to grow, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said on Tuesday.

Eight countries import Azerbaijani gas today, and Azerbaijan has already earned a reputation as a reliable partner in gas supplies, Aliyev said at the opening of the International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition and the Caspian International Power and Green Energy Exhibition as part of the Baku Energy Week.

The number of countries that buy gas from Azerbaijan will continue to grow, Aliyev said. Active talks are ongoing with a number of countries, which need Azerbaijani gas, and Azerbaijan will ensure their energy security, he said.

Azerbaijani gas exports increased 5.3% to 23.8 bcm in 2023. Gas shipments to Europe rose 3.5% to 11.8 bcm.

European countries buying Azerbaijani gas are Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, and Serbia. A number of other European countries have also displayed their interest in importing gas from Azerbaijan. Georgia and Turkey also buy Azerbaijani gas.
