China expands list of beef products Russia can export
MOSCOW. May 30 (Interfax) - China has expanded the list of beef products that can be imported from Russia.
"In accordance with the laws and regulations of the country, as well as the provisions of the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) and [Russian plant and animal health watchdog[ Rosselkhoznadzor regarding inspection, quarantine and hygiene standards for beef imported into China from Russia, henceforth imports of Russian beef (including edible by-products of cattle) that meets these standards will be permitted," the GACC said in a statement published on May 28.
Companies that export to China must be registered by the Chinese authorities. Only beef and by-products produced by enterprises accepted for registration after the date of registration can be exported to China. Unregistered meat companies are not permitted to export beef to China.
This refers foremost to the expansion of the list of by-products that are allowed to be exported to China. Frozen beef tendon, diaphragm, bovine hooves, bovine heart tube, bovine cartilage and beef stomach and other products.
Russia has been exporting beef to China since 2020, Rosselkhoznadzor said. Exports totalled 19,600 tonnes in 2023.
