Russia, Malaysia agree on veterinary certificate for beef

MOSCOW. May 17 (Interfax) - Russia and Malaysia have agreed on veterinary certificates for Russian beef and beef by-products for export to the Malaysian market, Russian animal health watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor reported after talks with the Malaysian Agriculture Ministry's Department of Veterinary Services (DVS), Islamic development agency JAKIM and the Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority.

The Russian and Malaysian delegations met at the fourteenth Russia-Islamic World International Economic Forum in Kazan.

They also agreed to arrange a visit by Malaysian inspectors from the DVS and JAKIM to Russian beef and dairy producers in July-August 2024.

Furthermore, Rosselkhoznadzor and its Malaysian colleagues expressed a willingness to accelerate the resolution of the issue of Russian poultry meat exports, the agency said.

Russia and Malaysia confirmed their interest in developing scientific and technical cooperation on fighting animal diseases, Rosselkhoznadzor said. The parties agreed to arrange a visit by representatives of the relevant Malaysian authority to Russia soon in order to share experience in the application of the latest practices in monitoring, lab diagnostics and exchange of electronic veterinary certificates in mutual trade.
