Ukraine boosts sunflower meal exports to record 560,000 tonnes in April
MOSCOW. May 14 (Interfax) - Ukraine boosted exports of sunflower meal to 560,000 tonnes in April 2024, up 41% month-on-month, recording one of the largest volumes of sunflower meal shipments since February 2022, Ukrainian media reported, citing the APK-Inform information and analytical agency.
"China was the key consumer of this Ukrainian product in April, getting 205,000 tonnes, the maximum monthly volume for more than a year, since January 2023. This is a fivefold month-on-month growth," analysts said.
The Ukrainian sunflower meal exports to the European Union reached 193,000 tonnes, down 18% compared with the previous month, while remaining at a quite high level, they said.
In total, 3.36 million tonnes of sunflower meal was shipped from Ukraine to foreign markets in September 2023-April 2024, which was the second highest volume for the whole period since the 2019-2020 marketing year, when 3.61 million tonnes was shipped, APK-Inform said.
