Exports through Ukrainian maritime corridor reach 33.8 mln tonnes over past 7 months - deputy PM

MOSCOW. March 29 (Interfax) - Almost 33.8 million tonnes of cargo have been exported through Ukraine's unilateral maritime corridor and the Danube since August 2023, which is more than the grain deal provided, Deputy Prime Minister for Restoration of Ukraine, Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Alexander Kubrakov said.

"A total of 33.8 million tonnes of goods have been exported through the Ukrainian corridor over the past seven months. This is more than exported over the year of the Grain Initiative," Ukrainian media quoted Kubrakov as saying on a social network.

As many as 1,140 ships destined for 40 countries departed from the Greater Odessa ports, the statement said.

Out of 33.8 million tonnes of cargo transported through the Ukrainian maritime corridor, 23.1 million tonnes of were Ukrainian agrarian products. Over the year of operation of the Grain Initiative, 33 million tonnes of agricultural products were exported, Kubrakov said.

As reported earlier, Ukrainian exports through the maritime corridor reached record 8 million tonnes in February. Deputy Minister for Communities, Territories and Infrastructure Development Yury Vaskov said in mid-March that over 1,000 ship carrying almost 31 million tonnes of cargo had passed through the Ukrainian maritime corridor.

The corridor began 24/7 operation with the permission of the Ukrainian Navy.
