Trucks from Russia waiting 14 days to enter Lithuania
KALININGRAD. March 21 (Interfax) - The situation with trucks from Russia entering Lithuania at the Chernyshevskoye crossing point in the Kaliningrad region has seriously aggravated, the press service for the Kaliningrad region's customs told Interfax on Thursday.
"One hundred forty trucks were in line in front of the crossing point as of the morning of Thursday, March 21. Another 25 road vehicles are on the neutral lane, waiting to enter Lithuania. The situation is aggravating as the Lithuanian customs has reduced the number of accepted road vehicles," the press service said.
In the past 24 hours, Lithuania allowed entry only to 32 road vehicles, which is much less than the technical capability. No trucks crossed the border in the past four hours, the press service said.
The Lithuanian customs has been working abnormally increasingly frequently lately.
The federal state unitary enterprise Rosgranstroy said on its Telegram channel transport passage through the Chernyshevskoye crossing point is considerably limited by the neighboring state.
The time lag from the reserved time for road vehicles to cross the border in the electronic line is 334 hours, or almost 14 days.
According to earlier reports, lines of trucks at the Lithuanian border in Chernyshevskoye have been almost regular since summer 2023.
A system of electronic registration for trucks seeking entry into Lithuania started working in Chernyshevskoye on September 1. However, there are delays caused by actions taken by the neighboring side.
Lithuania toughened control over the transit of cargoes going to and from Russia and Belarus in the past few months on keeping with the European Commission's decision on sanctions against these states.
Trucks are currently cleared at the Russian-Lithuanian border only at the Chernyshevskoye crossing point. The number of trucks going to and from Russia has decreased considerably due to the anti-Russian sanctions.
