Russian, U.S. ambassadors to UN discuss counterterrorism, North Korea, bilateral relations

NEW YORK (UN). Aug 2 (Interfax) - U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley and her Russian counterpart Vasily Nebenzya have discussed the war on terrorism, the North Korea situation, and bilateral relations within the UN framework at their meeting, the U.S. Mission to the United Nations said in a statement.

"Ambassador Nikki Haley met with Ambassador Vasily Nebenzya, Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the United Nations. [...] Ambassador Haley and Ambassador Nebenzya discussed counterterrorism, North Korea's dangerous provocations, especially its recent missile tests, and the U.S.-Russia relationship at the UN going forward," the media quoted the statement as saying.

"Ambassador Haley welcomed Ambassador Nebenzya and congratulated him on taking up his new post at the UN," it said.

Nebenzya was appointed as Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in July. He has already met with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
