Lavrov may meet with new Japanese colleague on sidelines of UN GA - Russian Foreign Ministry
MOSCOW. Sept 12 (Interfax) - A meeting between Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Japan's new Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York is not being ruled out, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said.
"We do not rule this out," Zakharova said at a briefing on Thursday.
A new government was formed in Japan on Wednesday. Taro Kono, who was previously foreign minister, became defense minister. Motegi, the country's new foreign minister, was previously minister for economic revitalization.
