Russia sets up delivery vehicles that can carry precision-guided missiles up to 4,000 km - General Staff (Part 2)
MOSCOW. Nov 7 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia has fielded full-scale units of vehicles capable of delivering precision-guided missiles at a range of up to 4,000 kilometers, Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov said.
"We have formed command bodies and special units to plan use of long-range precision-guided munitions and prepare flight assignments for all types of cruise missiles," Gerasimov said at a meeting of the Defense Ministry's board on Tuesday.
The Armed Forces have adopted hardware and software for planning, information support, and data for use in combat, he said.
"This has enabled us to set up full-scale units of vehicles capable of delivering precision-guided missiles against targets located up to 4,000 kilometers away," Gerasimov said.
Russia is rapidly developing its non-nuclear deterrence forces, Gerasimov said. "In the past five years, we have made a breakthrough in supplying our Armed Forces with long-range precision-guided munitions," he said.
In this time, Russia has arranged serial supplies of Iskander-M tactical missile systems and submarines and surface vessels carrying Kalibr missile systems and begun modernizing long-range aircraft for deployment of the new Kh-101 cruise missile, he said.
"As a result, we have increased the number of ground-launched, sea-launched, and air-launched delivery vehicles more than 12-fold and the number of precision-guided cruise missiles more than 30-fold," he said.
