Syrian troops unilaterally cease fire in Idlib - Russian military officials
MOSCOW. May 19 (Interfax) - The Syrian army ceased fire in the Idlib de-escalation area on midnight of May 18, while militants continued their attacks, injuring three Syrian soldiers, the Center for reconciliation of opposing sides in Syria said.
"Starting at 00:00 hours on May 18, the armed forces of Syrian Arab Republic have unilaterally ceased fire in the Idlib de-escalation area. However, strikes on the positions of government forces and on civilians in the provinces of Hama, Latakia and Aleppo have continued on the part of militants," the Center said on Sunday.
"On May 18, a total of 13 instances of ceasefire violation were recorded, including ones involving mortars and multiple-launch rocket systems that must not be deployed in the demilitarization zone under the Astana agreements of 2017 and the Sochi agreements of 2018," it said.
Three Syrian soldiers were injured in those attacks, the reconciliation center said.
