Georgian PM resigns, referring to 'mood in team'
TBILISI. June 13 (Interfax) - Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili announced his resignation at a special briefing on Wednesday.
According to the Georgian Constitution, the prime minister's resignation entails the dismissal of the entire government.
"Our government's work means that our country's development is on the right track. For me, this position was primarily the biggest responsibility which could be vested in a person, in a citizen. I tried to be every citizen's prime minister. I have always been and remain a team player, and proceeding from that and seeing the mood in my team, I have decided to step down from my post today," Kvirikashvili said.
"I would like to thank all the good people I became acquainted with in this post. I would like to thank everyone who worked with me in the government," he said, thanking Bidzina Ivanishvili, the chair of the ruling party Georgian Dream, separately.
