Four held hostage at Astrakhan college - Investigative Committee

MOSCOW. March 14 (Interfax) - A man has taken two employees and two students of the Volga-Caspian Fishing Industry College hostage in downtown Astrakhan, the Russian Investigative Committee said.

"As far as we know, a man threatening with an object, which resembled a handgun, locked himself up with two college employees - a tutor and a guard - and two students in a classroom at approximately 2 p.m.," it said.

"Negotiations are underway. The man has demanded food and drinks," the committee said.
