Police have no info on unknown manipulator behind attack on Bolshoi ballet chief - source
MOSCOW. March 14 (Interfax) - Russian law enforcement agencies do not possess reliable information suggesting that someone in the Bolshoi Theater could have tacitly provoked a conflict in its ballet company that eventually led to an acid attack on Ballet Director Sergei Filin, a source familiar with details of the investigation into the incident said.
"Law enforcement agencies have to check all theories, including the one put forward by the Bolshoi performers that soloist Pavel Dmitrichenko could not have ordered this attack on Filin," the source said.
"However, the law enforcement agencies do not possess trustworthy information that someone could have tacitly manipulated the people suspected of committing the crime," he said.
Moscow police said earlier that they were prepared to verify whatever facts are presented by Bolshoi staff calling into question Dmitrichenko's role in the crime.
Bolshoi Theater General Director Anatoly Iksanov said he did not believe that Dmitrichenko had really ordered the attack on Filin but that someone else was actually pulling the strings.
Dozens of Bolshoi Theater staff members published an open letter on March 12, in which they claimed that Dmitrichenko could not have ordered the attack on Filin.
