GAZ group halts operations for 2-wk planned vacation
MOSCOW. July 26 (Interfax) - The GAZ group (RTS: GAZA) has suspended production operations at its main enterprise for two weeks from July 26 to August 8.
"Together with the union committees at its main enterprises, the GAZ group decided to give its workers a corporate vacation from July 26 to August 8, 2010. The decision was made in association with the unusual heat," the group said.
A majority of the world's automotive companies use the summer months for planned vacations. GAZ announced this break back in December.
After the two weeks are up, the company plans to resume work with a 6-day week and monthly output of 8-10,000 autos.
"GAZ worked a intensive 6-day workweek in July," the company said.
GAZ is one of Russia's biggest automotive producers, with eighteen enterprises in ten of the country's regions. It is controlled by structures associated with entrepreneur Oleg Deripaska.
