Gazprom to purchase 15.5 bcm of Uzbek gas in 2010 (Part 2)
MOSCOW. Dec 28 (Interfax) - OOO Gazprom export and Uztransgaz have signed a contract for the purchase and sale of up to 4.25 billion cubic meters of gas in 2010, Gazprom (RTS: GAZP) said in a statement.
The statement said that according to already signed agreements the pricing formula for gas supplied from Uzbekistan will be in line with the European gas market.
Including signed contracts, Gazprom's portfolio includes the purchase of 15.5 bcm of Uzbek gas in 2010.
The contact was singed in the framework of a visit of a Gazprom delegation to Uzbekistan headed by the concern's deputy CEO Alexander Medvedev.
"The sides have taken a constructive position that allows for an agreement, reaching a mutually beneficial partnership and setting to work on preparing a long-term contract," Medvedev was quoted as saying.
Gazprom said on its website that it had purchased 14.2 bcm of Uzbek gas in 2008.
In January-November 2009, purchases of Uzbek gas came to around 12.8 bcm.
It was earlier reported that at the start of the current year, Gazprom had agreed to the terms for gas supply from Uzbekistan in 2009 and signed a supplement to the contract on supplying gas, which sets out a pricing formula based on the average European gas prices. On December 11, a supplement was signed for a contract between Gazprom and Uztransgaz for the transit of natural gas in Uzbekistan in 2010 and the main terms for supplying Uzbek gas in 2010 between the Russian monopoly and Uzbekneftegaz.
