Czech unit of T-Mobile ups revenues 7% y/y to CZK 7.94 bln in Q1
PRAGUE. MAY 9. INTERFAX CENTRAL EUROPE - Deutsche Telekom's Czech mobile
operator T-Mobile Czech Republic posted CZK 7.941 bln revenues in the
first quarter, up 6.8% year-on-year (y/y), the company announced on
Thursday.
"The results achieved by T-Mobile in the first quarter of 2008 show
strong performance in the extremely competitive market," the company's
Executive Vice-president Finance Otakar Kral said in a statement.
"The penetration exceeds 126% which means it's hardly possible to gain
new customers. We're aware of the fact the focus on current customers is
vital for future development," he added.
EBITDA reached CZK 4 bln, up 13.2% y/y while the operator's average
revenue per user (ARPU) indicator improved to the level of CZK 484, the
company said.
T-Mobile's total number of customers grew by 3.2% y/y to 5.2 million
while the number of contract customers increased by 19.8% to nearly 2.23
million.
In the coming months, T-Mobile will focus on the retention activities,
data services development and the communities-targeted offers, Kral
said.
T-Mobile's competitor, Prague-listed Telefonica 02 Czech Republic
(TROCR) posted revenues of CZK 8.1 bln and had 5.16 million customers in
Q1 2008.
