Another Georgian drone shot down over Abkhazia
SUKHUMI. May 8 (Interfax) - Another Georgian unmanned
reconnaissance aircraft has been shot down in the sky over Abkhazia.
"Around 5:05 p.m., local time, Abkhaz air defense units shot down
another Georgian drone," Anatoly Zaitsev, deputy defense Minister of the
unrecognized republic, told Interfax on Thursday.
The plane was shoot down after it crossed into the Abkhaz air
space, Zaitsev said.
Abkhazia claims to have brought down four Georgian drones from
March to April 2008.
The Abkhaz president's representative in the Gali district Ruslan
Kishmaria told Interfax, "Gali residents have heard an explosion and we
are now verifying reports that one more drone has been shot down."
