Medvedev promises to sign decree appointing Putin PM today

     MOSCOW.  May  8  (Interfax) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has
promised to sign a decree appointing Vladimir Putin prime minister later
on Thursday.
     "I  will  sign  a decree on appointing Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin
head of  the government today," Medvedev said at the State Duma after it
approved Putin's candidacy as prime minister on Thursday.
