Putin calls for lowering taxes on oil production, processing

     MOSCOW.  May 8 (Interfax) - Vladimir Putin, a candidate for Russian
prime minister,   has   called  for  lowering  taxes  to  stimulate  oil
production and processing.
     "To  stimulate  growth in the production and processing of oil, the
time has  come  to  lower the tax burden on this economic sector," Putin
said speaking at the State Duma on Thursday.
