Medvedev has assumed control of "Nuclear Button"
MOSCOW. May 7 (Interfax) - Control over Russia's strategic nuclear
forces has been handed over to Dmitry Medvedev, Russia's new president
sworn in on Wednesday and commander-in-chief of the Russian armed
forces, in the Kremlin's Block 14, an Interfax correspondent reports.
Medvedev heard a report from the officers-on-duty, colonels Nikolai
Radov and Mikhail Sirotkin.
The "Nuclear Briefcase" was handed over to Medvedev in the presence
of Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov.
