Interfax opens its 20th regional press center in Saratov

Interfax-Volga News Agency, which is part of the Interfax Information Services Group, has announced the opening of a press center in Saratov - Interfax’s 20th in Russia.

“It’s difficult to overestimate the importance of an Interfax press center in Saratov’s information space,” Saratov region Governor Pavel Ipatov said. “Interfax news is read not only in Russia, but also in the rest of the world. Among its subscribers are most of the world's governments, major international subscribers, and leading banks and corporations. We hope Interfax will help increase investors’ interest in the region,” Ipatov said.

“The opening of a press center in Saratov, the fifth in the Volga Federal District, is an important stage in shaping an effective regional information infrastructure. I am convinced that this press center will provide a rostrum for local officials and political forces, businessmen, cultural figures, scientists and athletes. The press center is expected to provide new information opportunities for the region,” Alexei Gorshkov, President of Interfax’s Regional Information Service, said.

The geography of Interfax’s press centers covers nearly all of the country’s major regions and cities, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Krasnoyarsk, Irkutsk, Tomsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Samara, Kazan, Perm, Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk, Khanty-Mansiisk, Ryazan, Yaroslavl, and Voronezh.

Interfax-Volga News Agency, set up in March 2003, covers developments in the Volga Federal District. The agency has its own newswire, encompassing local and federal news, read by mass media, executives, companies, and banks.

Interfax-Volga has bureaus in Nizhny Novgorod, Ufa, Kazan, Samara, Perm and Penza, and units in Orenburg, Kirov, Ulyanovsk, Yushkar-Ola, Saransk, Izhevsk, Saratov and Cheboksary.
