Interfax announces opening of press center in Novosibirsk
The Interfax news agency has officially opened a press center in Novosibirsk, which will host press conferences given by government, political and business organizations from Russia's Siberian Federal District.
Novosibirsk region Governor Viktor Tolokonsky, who attended the opening of the new press center on Monday, expressed gratitude to Interfax, which, he said, "has opened new informational opportunities for the region."
"The establishment of a press center in Novosibirsk is an important event in the life of not only the city and the region but also the entire Siberian Federal District. I hope this new informational floor will soon win popularity among both newsmakers and the members of the press," Tolokonsky said.
After the ceremony, Tolokonsky gave a press conference, at which he elaborated on the activity of the State Council working group in charge of drafting Russia's transportation strategy, which he leads.
The Interfax news agency, a part of the international group Interfax Information Services, began setting up its first press centers in Russian regions several years ago alongside launching a comprehensive program on expanding its regional correspondence network. At the present time, there are Interfax press centers operating in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen and Chelyabinsk.
