New head of Index Agency RTS-Interfax appointed
MOSCOW. Aug 27 (Interfax) - The Board of Directors at Index Agency RTS-Interfax has appointed Nikolai Zhur, the head of the international projects' department at the RTS Stock Exchange, the general director of the agency. Zhur replaces Alexey Savatyugin who led the agency since its foundation in 2000.
"The Russian stock market is becoming increasingly attractively for investors and they need a growing number of financial instruments. The index calculated by RTS-Interfax generated Russia's first futures contract. We count on further active growth of index investment funds in Russia permitting the agency to expand its operations," Zhur said.
The index agency was set up in 2000 by the Russian Trading System stock exchange and Interfax news agency. Its main objectives are to develop, disseminate and promote investment stock indices and stock market indicators, to promote futures dealing on the basis of stock indexes, to organize index investment funds, and to offer methodological and analytical support to securities' trading. Since 2001, it has been calculating and publishing indexes of the S&P/RUX family under a license agreement with Standard & Poor's.
