Group including Interfax to cover Electronic Russia program

Moscow. (Interfax) - A consortium that includes the Interfax news agency has won an open competition for the coverage of the Electronic Russia program.

The other consortium members are the Prime TASS economic information agency, the Humanities Technology Agency, the New Prospects Foundation, and the Communications Networks and Systems magazine.

The consortium developed an extensive plan to cover Electronic Russia, which includes large conferences in Moscow and the provinces, regular events for the media. These will include events at a specialist press center, the organization of basic computer training, preparation of information and analytical material, and publication and distribution of bulletins.

The competence of the consortium member companies and the range of specialist fields they represent provides a basis for the efficient implementation of the 42 million ruble project, for which three bids came in at the competition, which was arranged by the Telecommunications and Information Ministry.

Earlier, a consortium of leading Russian information and software companies, also including Interfax, won an open competition to set up a government website on the Internet. The contest had been organized by the Economic Development and Trade Ministry.

Last year, the Interfax group launched Interfax Telecom, an agency to report on the telecommunications market.
