Russian, Omani FMs discuss Middle East settlement

MOSCOW. March 28 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Foreign Minister of the Sultanate of Oman Sayyid Badr al-Busaidi have spoken by phone, the Russian Foreign Ministry's website said.

"The Omani foreign minister offered his deep condolences over the terrorist attack at the Crocus City Hall concert venue. He wished fortitude to the relatives and loved ones of the victims, and a speedy recovery to those injured in this tragedy," the ministry said.

The parties focused on the problems of the Middle East settlement in light of the ongoing escalation in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone, as well as the deterioration of the situation in the Red and Arabian Seas in connection with this.

"Sergei Lavrov and Badr al-Busaidi spoke in favor of taking the required measures as soon as possible in order to stop the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip, to deliver humanitarian aid there, as well as to launch negotiations aimed at a comprehensive political settlement of the Palestinian problem on the known international legal basis," it said.

The two ministers also exchanged views on a number of other current issues on the regional agenda and discussed further enhancing Russian-Omani multifaceted relations.
