White House insists ISIL alone is responsible for Crocus terrorist attack

BRUSSELS. March 28 (Interfax) - Only ISIL (banned in Russia) has a connection to the terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall, White House adviser John Kirby said.

"ISIS bears full responsibility for the attack," the Western media quoted him as saying in response to a request for comment on Moscow's statements on the connections of the terrorist attack suspects with Ukraine.

Kirby also said the United States gave Russia a written warning about a possible attack.

The Russian Investigative Committee earlier said the information from the devices taken from the suspects in the Crocus City Hall attack confirms their connection to the Ukrainian side.

"As a result of work with the detained terrorists, an examination of the devices seized from them, and an analysis of information on financial transactions, evidence of their connection to Ukrainian nationalists has been obtained," the committee said in a statement posted on its Telegram channel on Thursday.

"The investigation has information at its disposal confirming that the perpetrators of the terrorist attack received significant amounts of cash and cryptocurrency from Ukraine, which was used in the preparation of the crime," it said.

This information was reported to Russian Investigative Committee Chairman Alexander Bastrykin at a meeting he chaired, the agency said.

The terrorist attack at Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, Moscow region, took place in the evening of March 22, when several people opened fire on concertgoers and set the building on fire. According to the most recent information, 143 people were killed and more than 180 were injured in the attack. The Investigative Committee is investigating a terrorism case.
