Russia to create digital profiles of migrant workers - Russian State Duma deputy speaker after meeting with Russian PM

MOSCOW. March 28 (Interfax) - The issue of toughening control over migrant workers was raised at a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, Russian State Duma Deputy Speaker Sergei Neverov said.

"Of course, the issue of labor migration was raised. The issue is a sensitive one, but it needs a thorough, thoughtful approach," Neverov said on his Telegram channel after meeting with Mishustin on Thursday.

"Labor migration should be ensured by employers' responsibility in the sense that if people have come to work, they work for them, and if they are fired, relevant bodies are notified immediately," he said.

"Digital profiles of people who come to work will be created. Where they go, when their permits expire, where they live, with whom. Any change of jobs, dismissals - everything should be under control," Neverov said.

"Ultimately, this is not only an issue of security, but also an issue of observing migrant workers' rights," he said.
