Azerbaijani president, Saudi energy minister discuss renewable energy projects, COP29, cooperation in OPEC+

BAKU. May 3 (Interfax) - Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev met with Saudi Arabia's Energy Minister Abdulaziz bin Salman Al Saud on Friday.

"It was noted at the meeting that friendly relations between Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been developing successfully in different areas, including the energy sector. The importance of the two countries' cooperation within OPEC+ was reaffirmed at the meeting," a statement published on the Azerbaijani presidential website said.

Successful cooperation is ongoing with ACWA Power, one of Saudi Arabia's leading companies, as part of renewable energy projects in Azerbaijan, the parties said, adding that this sector has great potential.

They also touched on the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) which will be hosted by Azerbaijan.
