Ozon to construct logistics complex in Kazakhstan for 3 bln rubles

MOSCOW. July 26 (Interfax) - Ozon plans to construct a logistics complex in Kazakhstan, investing around 3 billion rubles, or 15 billion tenge, the online retailer said in a statement.

Construction is planned to be completed within a year, and the facility will be 42,000 square meters. The first phase of the facility should create 2,000 new jobs in the region.

The logistics complex will expand through the construction of the second and third phases of the facility as Ozon's business develops in Kazakhstan.

The logistics complex will handle the full "production" cycle of online orders from local sellers, from receiving goods for storage to compiling orders and sending them to buyers, Ozon said.

Ozon's partner in implementing the project is Focus Logistics, which is part of Kazakhstan's Bazis construction group of companies.

Ozon has been operating in the Kazakhstan market since 2021, and its logistics infrastructure in the region currently includes two fulfillment centers and over 100 pickup points. Ozon intends to increase the number of points for receiving and issuing orders to 1,000 by the end of 2023.
