Zaporozhstal boosts steel roll output 60% in 4M

MOSCOW. May 8 (Interfax) - The Zaporozhstal steelworks boosted steel roll output 60% in January-April 2024 to 844,800 tonnes, from 530,900 tonnes a year previously, Ukrainian media reported, quoting company information.

The plant produced 1.009 million tonnes of crude steel and 1.05 million tonnes of pig iron, up more than 50% and 46.5%, respectively.

It produced 265,000 tonnes of pig iron, 278,400 tonnes of crude steel and 229,400 tonnes of roll in April alone.

Zaporozhstal steelworks raised steel roll output 60% in 2023 to 2.055 million tonnes. It produced 2.467 million tonnes of crude steel and 2.719 million tonnes of pig iron, up 70% and 35.3%, respectively. Average capacity utilization was 70% in 2023.

Zaporozhstal, one of Ukraine's biggest steel works, produces hot- and cold-rolled steel coils, sheet, strip and roll-formed sections.
