Wildberries intends to build logistics complex in Bashkortostan

UFA. April 24 (Interfax) - Online retailer Wildberries intends to build a large logistics center in Bashkortostan, the press service of the head of the region said.

"Head of Bashkortostan, Radiy Khabirov, met with the CEO of Wildberries, Tatyana Bakalchuk on April 23 in Dubai and discussed the prospects for cooperation between the Russian marketplace and the republic, in particular, the construction of a modern logistics complex in the region," the press release said.

"The implementation of the investment project will provide small and medium-sized businesses with an easy way to start selling, as well as the necessary infrastructure: warehouses, storage and packaging of orders, logistics and delivery, and payment systems," the release said.

"Online commerce is increasing its share every year. And Bashkortostan already has successful experience in creating logistics centers for leading Russian marketplaces," Khabirov said.

"For us, Bashkortostan is a very important region that has great potential," Bakalchuk said at the meeting.

Wildberries LLC is one of the largest Russian online stores, specializing in selling a wide range of consumer goods. It operates in Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and China, the company said. The company processes over 10 million orders every day. The total area of Wildberries' warehouses is 2 million sq. m and it has a chain of over 36,000 pick-up points.
